Many groups combine a day or more at the Yankee Peddler Festival with visits to other tourist sites in the general area. We provide a list of the most popular sites here. Canal Fulton, the city nearest to the Yankee Peddler Festival, is host to many activities. There are shops to visit and the Canal Fulton Heritage Society runs a Canal Boat (the St. Helena III) and two museums (the Heritage Museum and the Oberlin House) which are open from 1 PM to 4 PM Saturday and Sunday all three weekends of the festival. Hale Farm & Village in Bath, Ohio, centrally located between Cleveland and Akron in the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area (accessible via the Ohio Turnpike, Interstate 271, and Interstate 77). Time travel to 1848, an era when designer clothes were woven in the parlor, the United States was composed of only 30 states, and gold had just been discovered in the territory of California. Visit a Western Reserve town bustling with activity. From morning sessions in the log school house to a midday meal with residents of the stone house, you share in the daily lives of the townspeople. Zoar Village in Zoar, Ohio, approximately 15 miles south of Clay's Park Resort. This restored village of the 1800's was originally founded by the Zoarites, a "utopian" religious community that was dedicated to a communal way of life. Roscoe Village, near Coshocton, Ohio, approximately 50 miles south of the Festival grounds. Another restored village that hosts a number of events during the year, including its famous annual mountain dulcimer contest. The Professional Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, 10 miles southeast of Clay's Park Resort. Amish Country. There are a number of Amish communities that receive tourists that are only a few miles from the Festival. Among them are Mount Hope, Berlin, Walnut Creek, and Sugar Creek, Ohio. There are inns, restaurants, shops, stores, and museums for visitors. Kidron, Ohio (home to Lehman's Hardware) is a community that is ideal for those shopping for old-fashioned goods.
